About

Hi, I‘m Melissa.

Growing up in the high-mountain desert of southern Idaho, I spent a lot of time exploring wilderness. Much of my work is inspired by the aliveness I feel when backpacking, hiking and skiing. I also gather inspiration in savoring the small things, whether in the backcountry or my backyard.

I’m drawn to the linocut art form for its minimalistic aesthetic and its ability to be both simple and intricate. I enjoy the process of carving away, or using reduction, to create lines and shapes. With my prints, I hope to communicate the glittering awe of wilderness and the preciousness found in the small things.
